StEven was heavily influenced by sing-along gospel as a child, which made him a late bloomer to discovering rock-n-roll. Nevertheless, he cites Tom Petty, Todd Snider, Roger Clyne, and Glen Phillips as major influences, along with Queen and the Beatles. In the 80’s and 90’s StEven was the drummer/lyricist in local suburban Detroit bands, Conscious Conscience and Earth to Bill. He and Eric Frakes formed the Rosetta Pebble band in 1999 and  have four albums together. His debut solo album, “Still a Little Summer Left,” produced by Tim Brickley, was released in October of 2020. A second solo album was released in October of 2021, and third is slated to drop in the spring of 2026.
